Baby Wilt!

Heath and Nicole recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary (12th!).  Don’t let those newlywed looks fool you, they have a lot more celebrating before the year comes to an end.  This fall, the newest addition of their family is due to arrive the day after Thanksgiving.  Their due date seems especially fitting, because as a yoga teacher and lover of life, Nicole expresses gratitude everyday. I can’t think of what more to be thankful for than a 3rd baby boy for the Wilt’s!Media Image-21

The Wilt twins are two sweet, rambunctious, curious, creative little preschoolers who are kind, energetic, and eager to become big brothers.

On a recent playdate I saw the boys dote on a little stuffed animal and politely remind everyone “Shhhh. Baby is sleeping” .  It is clear that Asher and Brooks have been practicing for their new role!  When my daughter Charlotte was itty bitty, I remember they were both so sweet and gentle with her.  The boys were always offering to rock Charlotte or pop a pacifier in her mouth.  I have know doubt that Baby W is going to have some awesome big brothers.

It is such a special time for the Wilt’s and I am so honored to be able to capture it for them.  Bringing home a new member of the family is one of life’s biggest celebrations.  I know the Wilt’s don’t want to rush through the spelndor of fall but winter sure does feel a lot cozier knowing they will have a brand new baby to snuggle.

Grace Family Photos

Shannon and Tommy met at the University of Kentucky – GO WILDCATS!  I know this because, well,  because I was there.  Shannon and I were both Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters at UK and  we had a very fun four years in college.  Shannon and Tommy got engaged during undergrad, and Kappa does a very special candlelight ceremony to celebrate.  This all seems like forever ago – I am pretty sure I just saw a post about Shannon planning their 10 year wedding annivesary.  Where does the time GO!?

Well for the Grace family, their time has been well spent!  After moving back to the midwest I was able to reconnect with Shannon and meet her beautiful family now including Carter + Charlotte.  We have done photos together for 2 years now and it has been incredible to watch their children grow.

Carter is doting a big brother, very loving and sweet in some moments and ALL boy at other times.  He was a great remodel for Charlotte during our photo session.

Shannon swears that Charlotte is a little bit more like her than Carter is, insisting that Charlotte comes by her, sweetness, strong convictions and a little bit of sass quite honestly.  They are the perfect siblings together, encouraging one another and just goofing and having fun.

It was a blast to follow this family of four around on a quiet summer evening in the park.  Ice cream cones always make for the best photo props!

So Much To Celebrate | 1st Wedding Anniversary!

Hooray!  Kris and our celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past weekend!  It was so much fun to reflect back on the last 12 months and relive some of our favorite moments.  I don’t think we could have possibly packed more into our first year of marriage.  We’ve been busy!  From starting new businesses, to moving to new cities, to taking new jobs with new companies – traveling, laughing, learning, and loving all along the way.Image-5

To commemorate our special occasion we went for a hike and packed a picnic – just like the one we took when Kris proposed.  Although, we were not on a side of a mountain this time, it was so fun to break out the champagne, cheese, and olives and relax in the great outdoors.  It was a hot sunny day and our little patch of grass  in the shade was so wonderful.

After our hike, we took a fun duck boat ride through the city.  The tour was the perfect way to explore the city where we first met and where we now call home!  Tons of history, I was truly impressed.  We finished the night off with a fancy dinner downtown with gorgeous sunset views of the city.

I don’t want to get too sappy on  here, but I am so thankful for this past year.  We have had so much fun making every moment count.  I can’t imagine life getting much better than this, but I know the best is yet to come!  Happy Anniversary babe!

Sweet Summer Time | Father’s Day

Wow, how is it already the MIDDLE of June!?  Where has the time gone?  One thing I know for sure, my time has certainly not gone to my blog.   I am back…at last.

I was chatting with a good friend the other day and we were discussing planning a weekend trip for November.  Yes, November.  Call me crazy, but calendars fill up fast!  In the beginning of summer, life feels wide open and we welcome the sweet months of June, July, and August with an enthusiasm that only warm weather can inspire.  Before you know it, every single weekend is scheduled with something fun and fabulous.  Then somehow an invisible line is crossed and life seems a tad too scheduled without an ounce of room left for spontaneity.  Yes life is busy.  Yes we are all busier than ever.  But let’s not be too busy for a little front porch sittin”, people watchin”, tea sippin’, unscheduled me and/or we time.

My goal for this Father’s Day weekend to us unplug, and unwind, and enjoy the company of those I am with.  It is so easy to think Father’s Day, check, yoga in the park check, happy hour with friends check, work work work, check, check check!  Let’s slow our hustle down just for a few unplanned moments of summer bliss.  Summer is not about crossing everything off the to do list, its about enjoying little pleasantries that bring a sweet smile to your face. Notice how little beads of water gather on the side of your ice cold glass.  Wave to a neighbor.  Send a letter to friend, yes like in the mail, with a stamp.  Read a book, a really, really good one.  You get the idea.  Join me in delighting in the most simple treasures of the here and now.  Summer is upon us!

Here are some pictures from a recent photo shoot, where little Anderson soaked up every minute of the sunshine, flowers, bugs, and blades of grass as he played in the park on a beautiful morning.
