Heath and Nicole recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary (12th!). Don’t let those newlywed looks fool you, they have a lot more celebrating before the year comes to an end. This fall, the newest addition of their family is due to arrive the day after Thanksgiving. Their due date seems especially fitting, because as a yoga teacher and lover of life, Nicole expresses gratitude everyday. I can’t think of what more to be thankful for than a 3rd baby boy for the Wilt’s!
The Wilt twins are two sweet, rambunctious, curious, creative little preschoolers who are kind, energetic, and eager to become big brothers.
On a recent playdate I saw the boys dote on a little stuffed animal and politely remind everyone “Shhhh. Baby is sleeping” . It is clear that Asher and Brooks have been practicing for their new role! When my daughter Charlotte was itty bitty, I remember they were both so sweet and gentle with her. The boys were always offering to rock Charlotte or pop a pacifier in her mouth. I have know doubt that Baby W is going to have some awesome big brothers.
It is such a special time for the Wilt’s and I am so honored to be able to capture it for them. Bringing home a new member of the family is one of life’s biggest celebrations. I know the Wilt’s don’t want to rush through the spelndor of fall but winter sure does feel a lot cozier knowing they will have a brand new baby to snuggle.
Whoo hoo! Grab your party hats, practice making your favorite animal noise, and ooogle over the cuteness of Ellis’ barnyard theme 1st birthday party!
Lindsey and Cutler graciously transformed their home to accommodate all things necessary to evoke that Kentucky barnyard feel. Family and friends were greeted by hay bales, pumpkins, and bushels of apples, not to mention DIY pony sticks and party hats.
As babies played together and adults munched down on some bbq, a leash lead petting zoo was ushered up 36 steps to a backyard paradise. Cow and pig cakepops, cowboy hats, and a bottle of bourbon rounded out the afternoon (yes, bourbon is absolutely mandatory for any sort of Kentucky-esque event).
Even a crisp chill in the air and a little afternoon drizzle couldn’t “rain” on Ellis’ parade!
Ellis wore his cute little plaid shirt and he LOVED seeing all the animals in his very own backyard. Ellis was a tiny bit timid at first, but I loved watching the little guy squeek and squeal when he petted one of the baby chicks. So stinkin’ cute!
I would have loved to know what Ellis wished for when he blew out the candle !
For those of you who know me well, you know that fall is near and dear to my heart. Something about this time of year just sings to my soul. So when my dear friend Angela wanted to do a fall photo session of her precious baby boy, I sprang into action.
First of all, Angela and I go way back. All the way to freshman year at the University of Kentucky. She lived two floors below me and we both pledged the same sorority, besties for ever more. Throughout the past 12 years, we have cheered each other on all along the way. From studying for calculus tests, to living in foreign countries, to moving to strange big cities (me to D.C. and Ang to Chicago), to meeting the men who would ask us to be their’s forever, to standing next to each other the day we each said “I do”, to eventually making a full circle and moving back to the Cincinnati area. Did I mention Ang and her hubby Chris have the most amazing little baby named Hudson?
Hudson has big blue eyes that could go on forever. He is super expressive and inquisitive. He has been labeled a baby genius for hitting some of those down the road milestones as a 3 month old. He is a TON of fun. He loves it when his mama sings to him, and quotes her favorite books, “Hudson, you is kind, you is smart, you is important” – The Help. We got some of the best smiles of the day when Angela repeated that little line over and over again. So sweet.
We took photo breaks to make sure Hudson had plenty of rest and outfit changes. Angela, Hudson, and I took a stroll through my neighborhood with my puppy, Rumford on one of our mini breaks. Rummy and Hudson are only a few weeks apart and it was a bromance from the start. Cars rolled by very slowly, and neighbors ooh aned ahhed over the siting of not just a cute puppy, but a cute puppy AND a cute baby?! Life could not get more adorable in Cincinnati that day.
It has been an amazing journey to watch little Hudson grow over these few short months. Did I mention I also took Angela and Chris’s maternity photos? Hudson and I go way back. I am so grateful to be able to capture special moments of this little guy’s life. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hates us later for the picture of his Halloween costume, but his mamma couldn’t help herself. Too cute for Friday indeed!
PS – I think Hudson loved this photo shoot as much as we did!
Hooray! Kris and our celebrated our first wedding anniversary this past weekend! It was so much fun to reflect back on the last 12 months and relive some of our favorite moments. I don’t think we could have possibly packed more into our first year of marriage. We’ve been busy! From starting new businesses, to moving to new cities, to taking new jobs with new companies – traveling, laughing, learning, and loving all along the way.
To commemorate our special occasion we went for a hike and packed a picnic – just like the one we took when Kris proposed. Although, we were not on a side of a mountain this time, it was so fun to break out the champagne, cheese, and olives and relax in the great outdoors. It was a hot sunny day and our little patch of grass in the shade was so wonderful.
After our hike, we took a fun duck boat ride through the city. The tour was the perfect way to explore the city where we first met and where we now call home! Tons of history, I was truly impressed. We finished the night off with a fancy dinner downtown with gorgeous sunset views of the city.
I don’t want to get too sappy on here, but I am so thankful for this past year. We have had so much fun making every moment count. I can’t imagine life getting much better than this, but I know the best is yet to come! Happy Anniversary babe!
The old saying goes, “friends are family too” could not have been more true than on a Sunday afternoon in Old Worthington. I was asked to do a photo shoot to capture the love and friendship between the 3 families as they all are about to begin big new adventures. New jobs, new cities, new careers, lots of new things. They have all been friends forever so even though it was bittersweet occasion, nothing but sweetness came from this photo session! Here are the photos from our park and play photo shoot! Yes, play = ice cream!
It is no easy task finding what I call “flat tire friends.” You know, the friend who you ACTUALLY call if you got a flat tire at an inconvenient place and at an inconvenient time. Yes, those people. Some say if you have just one of those friends you are among the luckiest people on earth. These friends have it. The history, the future, the we will be great friends no matter time zone, latitude, or longitude coordinates we live in.
So, needless to say, it was an honor to capture some great photos and help make new memories as these friends get ready to make their next big moves. The kids were simply adorable. Full of energy and spunk, and hopes of getting only the most gigantic chocolate chips in their Graeter’s ice cream ever. The simple equation of kids +sticky fingers + sloppy ice cream cones = photo magic in the summertime.
If this doesn’t serve as a reminder to get off the computer and call your bestie I don’t know what will! #FriendsAreFamilyToo
Lesson of the day: Don’t waste your ice cream, your big brother wants you to do it like him!….
